Stonington is a small fishing village located on southernmost tip of Deer Isle, Maine that is very picturesque. There are boats to the islands, some restaurants, small hotels, an opera house and some art.  But for the most part it is a very beautiful working fishing port - lobstering and other fishing activities are the main source of income; not tourists. There are about a dozen small art galleries and studios that feature fine arts and crafts. Stonington is also the departure point (by boat) to get to the lovely Isle au Haut.
