Pineland Public Reserved Land and Pineland Farms

Home > Places > Pineland Public Reserved Land and Pineland Farms

The Pineland Public Reserved Land is located along Route 231 in New Gloucester, Maine - not too far from Portland and the coast of Maine.  There is 600 acres of preserved land on both sides of Route 231 in both fields and woods.  Two short hiking trails are located here.  The North Loop Trail, accessed off Depot Road, will take you to the Royal River.  The South Loop Trail, accessed off Old Farm Road, goes through some very nice woods.  These lands once supplied the needs of the Pineland Center - a state institution.  Both are well-marked and traverse varied terrain in a quiet country-side, woods setting.  Find more information at the web page on Pineland Public Reserved Land by the Maine Bureau of Parks and Lands.

In the same area is the Pineland Farms complex - a recreational, farm, and business community. There are business offices, a creamery, three working farms, farmer's market, hiking and skiing trails, orienteering, garden, equestrian center, and more located here.  Pineland Farms is a privately-owned working farm and recreational area open to the public for exploration, recreation, and education. There are working dairy, sheep and poultry barns.  Weddings and functions are hosted here and overnight guests can stay in the on-site accommodations.
