Augusta, Maine is located in southern Maine. Augusta's
history dates back to the early settlers time when a trading post was established. A special aspect of Augusta is that it is located on the Kennebec River. In 1827 the town of Augusta was designated the state
capitol. Augusta has seen changes over the years from its start as an early settlement and inland shipping port. It later became a center for agriculture, manufacturing, business and education.
